Jesse Davis Selkirk
Electronic Music Instructor
Jesse Davis Selkirk has been creating and performing music for close to 20 years. An accomplished songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer/arranger, Jesse started producing electronic music in 2007. He released a 12 track LP with his production duo, The Depth, in 2010 through the support of the Saskatchewan Arts Board, and debuted as, Sleepwreck, in 2014 with his Prototype Self EP. This EP was released with trendsetting record label Street Ritual Recordings (Oakland California). He has performed his unique brand of live-electronica at festivals large and small across Western Canada and the US, including Shambhala, Burning Man, Motion Notion, Astral Harvest, Ness Creek among others.

In 2009 Jesse created the Song Writer’s Education And Training program, through the support of the Saskatchewan Arts Board. This was a project designed to immerse high school students in the fundamentals of crafting music over a sixteen week period. Through this project, Jesse has gone on to work with over 200 students in 7 schools. During that time he also regularly worked with students on electronic music production using Ableton Live, offering mentorship in everything from technical knowledge of the program to artistic/career direction and effective goal setting. Summer of 2015 would also see him presenting a workshop entitled “Personal Transformation Through Music Production” at several prominent electronic music festivals, including Shambhala.

Jesse believes that mastery is a function of ongoing learning, and that the best way to get good is to get your hands dirty and allow yourself to make mistakes. He is constantly working to sharpen his skills through practice and mentorship and is always excited to share his passion and allow others to benefit from his experience.
